Colorado’s Front Range and Eastern Plains can expect to see another round of heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms starting Saturday afternoon, along with the potential for more flash flooding, National Weather Service forecasters said.

A flood watch is in effect for most of the region starting at 2 p.m., including Arvada, Aurora, Boulder, Brighton, Broomfield, Castle Rock, Centennial, Colorado Springs, Commerce City, Denver, Englewood, Evergreen, Federal Heights, Fort Collins, Georgetown, Golden, Greeley, Highlands Ranch, Idaho Springs, Lakewood, Larkspur, Littleton, Longmont, Loveland, Northglenn, Parker, Pueblo, Thornton, Westminster and Wheat Ridge.

It’s unlikely everywhere in the advisory area will see heavy rain, but it’s “extremely difficult” to say exactly where the heaviest rain will fall, agency officials said Saturday morning.
“With the rain the past three days and the moisture we still have available, anywhere in the watch (area) could see flash flooding today if one of the stronger storms moves over that area,” forecasters said.

That could look like flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and low-lying areas or areas with poor drainage. NWS officials also issued a flash flood watch over the Aspen Acres burn scar.

The flood watch is active until 10 p.m., when the storms are expected to move away from the Eastern Plains.
