Man arrested on suspicion of murder after deadly Denver assault, police say

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a Saturday assault in Denver turned fatal, police said.

Denver officers responded to an assault at 1300 Larimer Street, in a park area east of the intersection of North Speer Boulevard and Larimer Street, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the police department.

When they arrived, officers found an unresponsive man, police said. Paramedics took the man to the hospital with unspecified injuries, where he later died. He will be identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

Edgardo Jimenez-Alvarad, 30, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the man’s death, according to Denver inmate records. Police arrested him near 14th and Champa streets at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the release.

Information about the man’s injuries and cause of death, or about the events leading up to the assault, was not available on Sunday.
