One driver died in an overnight Commerce City crash involving a pickup truck and a semitrailer, police said.

The Commerce City Police Department first posted on Facebook about the fatal crash on Colorado 2 at East 96th Avenue at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators believe the pickup truck crashed into the back of the semitrailer, killing the pickup truck driver, police said. Paramedics took the semitrailer driver to the hospital as a precaution.

Northbound Colorado 2 was closed overnight for the crash cleanup and investigation, police said. That closure did not appear active at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on COtrip.org, the website used by the Colorado Department of Transportation to report crashes and closures.
Additional information about the crash, including the cause, was not immediately available.
