With average wait times at the new East and West security lines at five minutes or faster, the system is “no longer necessary,” according to the airport’s announcement.
In 2024, the airport opened its new 17-lane West Security Checkpoint and intended to process about 200 passengers per hour. Then, in 2025, officials opened another 17-lane security checkpoint on the East side of the terminal. Both projects came as part of a $2.1 billion terminal renovation at DIA.
Travelers will still be able to use any existing reservations. The airport will also continue to accept new reservations until the final day on June 27.
The system allows travelers to avoid long wait times by booking a security appointment ahead of their travel day. They are available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and for flights that leave between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
