Suspect in fatal Aurora shooting arrested in Colorado Springs

Police arrested a man in Colorado Springs in connection with an Aurora homicide, where another man was shot to death and left on a sidewalk over the weekend, law enforcement announced Monday.

Armanni Woods, a 31-year-old from Colorado Springs, was arrested by the Aurora Police Department’s fugitive unit and the Colorado Springs Police Department’s SWAT team, police said in a Monday afternoon update. Police officials did not specify the charges under investigation.

The arrest stems from a fatal shooting first discovered shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, near East Warren Avenue and South Galena Street in west Aurora. Investigators believe the victim, a 49-year-old man who has not yet been publicly identified, was shot hours earlier, police said.

The man who was shot will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
