Federal Aviation Administration officials ordered the ground stop at 3:41 p.m. and downgraded it to a ground delay just before 5 p.m.
The airport was put on a departure delay at 6:43 p.m., with departing flights delayed by an average of 15 minutes.

Airlines at DIA reported 480 delayed flights as of 7 p.m. Wednesday, including 163 on United Airlines, 129 on Southwest and 122 on SkyWest, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.
