One person was killed and another was injured when a driver ran a red light and crashed into a ride-share vehicle Monday night, according to the Aurora Police Department.

The crash ripped off the ride-share sedan’s rear door and threw the passenger from the car, according to a news release from the police department. Paramedics took both the ride-share driver and passenger to the hospital, where the passenger later died, police said.
The passenger will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
Aurora officers responded to the crash near North Laredo Street and East Sixth Avenue just after 8 p.m. Monday, police said. The intersection sits on the edge of the Laredo Highline and Centretech neighborhoods in northwest Aurora.
Investigators believe the driver of a Toyota RAV4, who has not been publicly identified, ran a red light at that intersection and crashed into the ride-share sedan, according to the release.

The Toyota driver is cooperating with the investigation, police said. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
Police declined to identify the Toyota driver or confirm whether the driver faces charges in the crash.
