Lakewood man killed in shooting at Green Mountain home, police investigating self-defense

A 45-year-old Lakewood man killed in a shooting at a Green Mountain home on Tuesday may have been shot in self-defense, police officials said.

Lakewood Police Department officers responded to a home in the 1500 block of South Wright Street at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a man who had been shot, agency officials said in a news release Wednesday.

The man, identified as Mark Andrew Reins, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“This shooting is currently being investigated as a possible self-defense incident,” department officials said in a news release. “The shooter in this case has been identified by police and is cooperating with the investigation. There is no threat to the public.”

Additional information about the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately available.
