Residents are being ordered to evacuate after a wildfire sparked near the small community of Pinewood Springs in the Larimer County mountains.
Those in the Pinewood Springs area should leave the area immediately, according to an alert sent about 1:50 p.m. Residents of the Blue Mountain area were asked to gather essential items and prepare to evacuate.
Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies were going door-to-door in Pinewood Springs to notify residents of the evacuation, according to a post to the department’s X page.

The fire, named the Moose Mountain Fire, is estimated to be about one-tenth to one-quarter of an acre, according to Amelia Huffman, a U.S. Forest Service spokesperson. The Forest Service has units responding to the fire, Huffman said.
Smoke from the fire could be seen from as far as Longmont.
Additional information about the wildfire, including whether any structures were threatened, was not immediately available.
