A man was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of shooting two Colorado State Patrol troopers during an attempted traffic stop west of Woodland Park, according to the agency.

Limited information about the shooting and the events leading up to it was available, but state patrol officials said one trooper had serious injuries and the other had minor injuries. Neither trooper had been publicly identified as of Tuesday morning.
The attempted Teller County traffic stop happened at about 7:15 a.m. on U.S. 24, near mile marker 286, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.

As of 10 a.m., the vehicle involved in the shooting had been found and the suspect, a man who has not yet been publicly identified, had been arrested, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
“This is an evolving situation,” state patrol spokesperson Sherri Mendez said.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area, Mendez said.
“I was devastated to learn about the shooting that injured two Colorado State Patrol Troopers during a traffic stop in Teller County,” Gov. Jared Polis said in a statement on Tuesday. “As both troopers receive medical care for their injuries, I and the entire state of Colorado are keeping both of them and their families in our thoughts and prayers and wishing them a speedy and full recovery.”
