Three weeks after a bicyclist was struck and killed in an Aurora hit-and-run, the suspected driver turned himself in, police said.

Jamie Gardner, 53, turned himself in to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
Gardner faces one felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, Arapahoe County court records show. He was released Tuesday on a $50,000 bail, police said.

Dispatchers were first alerted to a downed bicyclist near South Powhaton Road and East Jewell Avenue shortly after 9:30 a.m. on July 27, police said. The bicyclist, 26-year-old Arthur Williams, was dead when police arrived.
Investigators identified a white Subaru Outback SUV as a suspect vehicle in the hit-and-run and used Flock cameras to track down the driver, police said. The cameras captured a heavily damaged Subaru leaving an Aurora neighborhood on July 28 and linked the car’s license plate to Gardner, police said.

A warrant was issued Friday for Gardner’s arrest.
