4 injured in head-on Thornton crash

Four people were injured Sunday in a head-on collision in southeast Thornton, according to the fire department.

The Thornton Fire Department first posted about the crash near East 100th Avenue and Riverdale Road at 4:47 p.m. Sunday.

Four people were injured in the crash, and one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles, according to the fire department. Officials did not specify how many people were in each vehicle, or the extent of their injuries.

Riverdale Road was closed in both directions on Sunday between 100th and 104th avenues for the crash cleanup and investigation, according to the Thornton Police Department.

“This is expected to be an extended closure and drivers will need to use alternate routes,” police said.
