A man riding a scooter was struck and killed after falling into the roadway near Denver International Airport overnight, Denver police said Friday morning.

The Denver Police Department first reported the crash near Tower Road and Peña Boulevard at 12:26 a.m. Friday and said there were serious injuries.
The pedestrian was later pronounced dead, police said at 9:24 a.m.
Preliminary information shows the man was driving the scooter northbound when he fell off and onto Tower Road, where he was hit by a driver, Sgt. Jay Casillas said in an email.
The driver stayed at the scene after the crash and the case is under investigation.
