A pickup truck passenger died Saturday night after being shot in the head in an incident Jefferson County investigators believe stemmed from a Littleton hit-and-run, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of a blue Ford F-150 pulled into the parking lot at Columbine High School shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Paramedics took his injured passenger, 23-year-old Andrew Bott, to the hospital, where he later died.
Bott was hit when someone fired multiple times at the Ford, the driver told deputies. As of Monday, the driver had not yet been publicly identified.
Investigators believe the fatal shooting is related to an earlier hit-and-run in Littleton, where a blue Ford F-150 reportedly struck several vehicles near South Santa Fe Drive and West Belleview Avenue and fled the scene, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The hit-and-run happened just minutes before the shooting was reported, sheriff’s officials said.
One of the hit-and-run victims called police to report he was following the Ford, sheriff’s officials said. Police told him to stop following the vehicle and issued a “be on the lookout” alert to nearby law enforcement for the Ford.
Sheriff’s officials did not answer questions about whether that driver was being investigated as a suspect in the shooting.

The shooting happened near Grant Ranch Boulevard and West Bowles Avenue, roughly 3 miles away from the initial hit-and-run, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators are asking anyone who traveled along West Bowles Avenue between South Santa Fe Drive and Grant Ranch Boulevard between 10:25 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. on Saturday to contact investigators at 303-271-5612 or by email at [email protected].
Drivers with dash cameras and residents and businesses along the corridor are also asked to review their surveillance video to see whether it captured any part of the incident.
As of Monday afternoon, no arrest had been made, according to the sheriff’s office.
Two people were interviewed Sunday night while investigators executed a search warrant at a Highlands Ranch home, officials said, but additional information about that search was not available.
