A bicyclist was found dead in eastern Aurora on Monday morning after what police are investigating as a hit-and-run crash, according to the police department.

Dispatchers were first alerted to a downed bicyclist in the 1600 block of South Powhaton Road, near East Jewell Avenue, shortly after 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Aurora police officers and firefighters arrived soon after and confirmed that the bicyclist had died, according to the department. The bicyclist’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

“At this time, this incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run, but we do not have a vehicle description,” Aurora police wrote on social media.
