A man walking toward a vehicle that was broken down in the middle of U.S. 36 was hit by an oncoming SUV on Saturday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened 3:45 p.m. when a Mercury Mountaineer broke down in the center lane of westbound U.S. 36, between Boulder and Superior, the state patrol said in a news release.
People began to walk toward the SUV on both shoulders when an oncoming Honda CR-V driving the center westbound lane swerved to try to avoid the Mountaineer and drove into the inside shoulder, hitting a man.
Emergency crews took the man to the hospital, but additional information about his condition was not immediately available, CSP officials said.
