Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Thornton, Arvada and Westminster

Parts of the Denver metro could see quarter-sized hail Friday afternoon after the National Weather Service in Boulder issued a severe thunderstorm warning.

Thornton, Arvada and Westminster are among the cities under the warning, which is in effect until 2:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The storm could bring quarter-sized hail as well as wind up to 50 miles per hour, the agency said.
