Denver will be cool and cloudy on Sunday, but don’t expect such conditions to last for long: The summer heat will return later this week.

Sunday will have a high of about 68 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms after noon, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

But Denver will begin to warm up, starting on Monday and by Wednesday temperatures are expected to reach near 99 degrees, according to the agency.

Wednesday is also expected to be breezy, which could cause “critical fire weather,” the National Weather Service said.
