A 40-year-old Aurora man shot and killed an acquaintance at an apartment complex early Tuesday morning after a fight about a stolen bicycle, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Aurora Police Department\u2019s SWAT team and fugitive and narcotics unit arrested Lewis Anthony Davis Jr., on Wednesday near Billings Street and Colfax Avenue, agency officials said in a news release.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to 911 calls about a shooting just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 14100 block of East Colorado Drive. Police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying outside, between two apartments, and bullet casings nearby. He died at the scene.<\/p>\n

The Arapahoe County Coroner\u2019s Office identified the victim as Joseph Giovanni Gorrocino, 48, and ruled his death a homicide.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest affidavit, Davis lived at the apartment with his girlfriend and her family. The group and Gorrocino, a family friend, had spent the day hanging out by the pool.<\/p>\n

Davis and Gorrocino were fighting because Gorrocino had borrowed Davis\u2019 bicycle without permission and someone stole it, witnesses told police. Davis did not have a car and used the bike and public transportation to get around.<\/p>\n

Gorrocino offered to give Davis an e-bike, but did not have the key, which made Davis more angry, according to texts Davis sent to a witness. He became even angrier after his vape pen went missing that day.<\/p>\n

Shortly before the shooting, the pair resumed fighting because Davis refused to let Gorrocino use the bathroom before he left the apartment, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

Detectives obtained surveillance video showed Davis walk out of the apartment ahead of Gorrocino, then turn around and shoot Gorrocino multiple times as he walked out of the apartment.<\/p>\n

Davis was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He previously pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and assault in Arapahoe County District Court in 2005, detectives wrote.<\/p>\n

The 18th Judicial District Attorney\u2019s Office will file formal charges in the case, and the investigation is ongoing, Aurora police said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Davis is being held without bail, court records show. His next court date was not available Thursday.<\/p>\n
