{"id":4020,"date":"2026-08-22T04:12:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T04:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=4020"},"modified":"2026-08-22T04:12:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T04:12:09","slug":"csp-sergeant-assaulted-woman-threatened-her-before-his-arrest-weld-county-officials-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=4020","title":{"rendered":"CSP sergeant assaulted woman, threatened her before his arrest, Weld County officials say"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><strong>Getting your Trinity Audio player ready&#8230;<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A Colorado State Patrol sergeant was arrested Thursday in Firestone on suspicion of assaulting a woman in 2024, then threatening her after he learned of the warrant for his arrest, according to a Weld County Deputy District Attorney.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=4018\">Emma Coburn reflects on Olympic medal 10 years after historic run<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ryan Holmes, 54, is facing charges of second-degree assault \u2014 strangulation and intimidation of a witness or victim, online court records show.<\/p>\n<p>The woman, who is married to Holmes and also works for the Colorado State Patrol, told police on Tuesday that Holmes grabbed her by her throat, lifted her off the ground, pushed her back and then slapped her during an argument in December 2024, according to an arrest affidavit. The woman told police she felt dizzy and that her throat was sore for about a week after the incident.<\/p>\n<p>In a phone call after the incident, Holmes said, \u201cI should never ever put my hands on you, and I\u2019m so sorry,\u201d according to a recording of the call the woman shared with police.<\/p>\n<p>The woman didn\u2019t report the incident at the time because Holmes promised to work on the relationship, the two attended counseling, and she was worried about the impact on both of their careers, according to the affidavit. She changed her mind after Holmes yelled and raised his fist at her on Aug. 13, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>The woman told police Tuesday that Holmes had also grabbed her by the throat in 2021, and that he had been \u201cverbally, emotionally, and physically abusive throughout their relationship,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=4016\">Missing Colorado man found dead in Nashville<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After learning of the warrant for his arrest Thursday, Holmes called the woman and said, \u201cI\u2019m gonna (expletive) up your life if you don\u2019t recant,\u201d Weld County Deputy District Attorney Carolyn O\u2019Hara said during a Friday afternoon bond hearing.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Hara had asked the court to consider a $50,000 cash or surety bail, citing a \u201cheightened concern for victim safety.\u201d The defense asked for a personal recognizance bond, or a $5,000 cash or surety bond.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Weld County Court Judge Michele Meyer set a $20,000 cash or surety bail and issued a mandatory domestic violence protection order.<\/p>\n<p>Holmes, who has worked for Colorado State Patrol since 1998, was not on duty during the reported incident and has been put on administrative leave, according to a Thursday afternoon Colorado State Patrol news release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese allegations are very serious, and we support the Firestone Police Department\u2019s investigation,\u201d the release states.<\/p>\n<p>Homes remained in custody at the Weld County Jail Friday afternoon, according to online jail records.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=4015\">Deion Sanders\u2019 graphic designer sues coach over personal brand logos<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado State Patrol Sgt.
