Former Vice President Mike Pence will join Colorado Christian University as a visiting faculty member for the coming academic year, the school announced this week.<\/p>\n

Pence will travel to the private college\u2019s Lakewood campus once a month for the 2026-27 term, CCU said in a press release on Tuesday. He\u2019ll give lectures, lead classroom discussions and \u201chave direct engagement with students\u201d during his visiting stint at the school.<\/p>\n

Pence served as vice president during President Donald Trump\u2019s first term in office between 2017 and 2021. He then unsuccessfully ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. He also served as Indiana governor and represented that state in Congress for six terms.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an honor to join Colorado Christian University, an institution firmly committed to academic excellence, Christian truth, and the principles that have sustained our nation since her founding,\u201d said Pence, who is an evangelical Christian, in the release. \u201cThroughout my years in public service, I have seen the importance of preparing leaders who understand that faith, freedom, character and constitutional government are inseparable from the future of America.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pence recently spoke at the CCU-hosted Western Conservative Summit, and he spoke at CCU shortly after Trump was elected again in 2024. He warned against populism in both speeches, according to the Colorado Times Recorder.<\/p>\n

In his 2024 address, he said his relationship with his \u201cold friend\u201d Trump had become \u201cmore animated\u201d on Jan. 6, 2021, when rioters attacked the U.S. Capitol building amid Trump\u2019s efforts to undermine Democrat Joe Biden\u2019s presidential victory. Trump had pressured Pence to block Congress\u2019 certification of that win, a request that Pence refused. He told the CCU audience he \u201cdid my duty.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former vice president also participated in an online course at CCU this summer in which he \u201ctaught alongside CCU faculty examining the principles, history, and contemporary application of American conservatism,\u201d according to the press release.<\/p>\n

In that release, CCU\u2019s president, Eric Hogue, said that Pence\u2019s \u201ccommitment to faith, freedom, constitutional government, and civil discourse aligns deeply with the mission of Colorado Christian University.\u201d<\/p>\n
