Near-record heat is forecast across Colorado on Monday\u00a0as temperatures creep up into the triple digits, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday has a chance to be the hottest day of the year,\u201d weather service forecasters wrote on social media. \u201cIf you plan to be outside, stay hydrated, take breaks, and seek shade.\u201d<\/p>\n

Temperatures across the urban corridor and Eastern Plains are expected to reach or exceed 100 degrees, forecasters said.<\/p>\n

In Denver, afternoon temperatures are expected to peak near 101 degrees, according to the weather service. That\u2019s four degrees short of the city\u2019s 105-degree heat record for July 20, set in 2005. That 105-degree heat also set a record for Denver\u2019s hottest July temperature and tied the record for the city\u2019s hottest temperature overall, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n
