Finished in striking Varesine Blue with an Ebony Windsor leather interior, the Sport Dynamic SE looked every bit the luxury flagship as it sat in front of the restaurant\u2019s elegant architecture.<\/p>\n<p>But Colorado doesn\u2019t judge vehicles solely by how they look parked in front of fine dining establishments.<\/p>\n<p>The real test came later.<\/p>\n<p>Heading west toward the foothills, I exited near Kipling and worked my way toward Deer Creek Canyon Road and the winding roads surrounding Jefferson County Open Space parks. Sunset was beginning to settle over the Front Range, creating one of those classic Colorado evenings where every pullout, cul-de-sac and overlook seems designed for photography.<\/p>\n<p>The Range Rover Sport was equally photogenic and capable.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Power comes from a turbocharged and supercharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine producing 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time all-wheel drive. Acceleration is impressive for a luxury SUV weighing well over two tons, reaching 60 mph in about 5.8 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>More impressive than outright acceleration is the way the powertrain delivers its performance.<\/p>\n<p>The six-cylinder is smooth, refined and nearly silent during normal driving. Yet when called upon to merge onto I-25 or climb a steep mountain grade, it responds with authority. The Dynamic Air Suspension deserves much of the credit for the vehicle\u2019s split personality. Around town, it glides over pavement imperfections with the composure of a luxury sedan. On winding canyon roads, the system tightens body control and inspires confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Colorado drivers will also appreciate Land Rover\u2019s Terrain Response 2 system, hill descent control, low-traction launch capability and adjustable ride height. Most owners may never venture beyond gravel roads or snowy ski-area parking lots, but it\u2019s reassuring to know the capability exists.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Inside, the cabin feels appropriately premium for a vehicle carrying a $103,710 as-tested price tag.<\/p>\n<p>Windsor leather seating surfaces, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic roof, configurable digital instrumentation and a 13.1-inch Pivi Pro infotainment screen create an environment that feels modern without becoming overwhelming. Those figures won\u2019t excite efficiency enthusiasts, but they are respectable considering the vehicle\u2019s performance, capability and nearly 400 horsepower output.<\/p>\n<p>What makes the Range Rover Sport Dynamic SE particularly appealing for Colorado buyers is its versatility.<\/p>\n<p>Many luxury SUVs excel on pavement but become nervous when weather turns ugly or roads become challenging. Others offer tremendous capability but sacrifice refinement.<\/p>\n<p>The Sport Dynamic SE successfully balances both worlds.<\/p>\n<p>It feels equally comfortable pulling up to a downtown Denver business meeting, navigating snowy mountain highways or exploring the scenic roads that weave through Colorado\u2019s foothills.<\/p>\n<p>That versatility doesn\u2019t come cheaply.
