Mandatory evacuations were issued Tuesday afternoon for a new wildfire that sparked on Colorado\u2019s Western Slope, according to first responders.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral structures are involved, and the fire is spreading,\u201d Grand Junction Fire Department officials wrote on social media. A photo posted by the fire department showed a black column of smoke reaching into the sky.<\/p>\n

Residents within a one-mile radius of 7803 Reeder Mesa Road, where the fire sparked on Tuesday, were ordered to evacuate, according to the fire department. That address is roughly 18 miles southeast of Grand Junction and 33 miles northwest of Delta.<\/p>\n

The size of the fire is unknown, and it\u2019s unclear whether more evacuations will be issued.<\/p>\n

The Mesa County Fire Authority, Central Orchard Mesa Fire, East Orchard Mesa Fire, Palisade Fire Department, Mesa County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u2019s Wildland Fire Team and the Bureau of Land Management all responded to fight the wildfire, Grand Junction fire officials said. <\/p>\n
