{"id":1049,"date":"2026-06-01T12:04:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T12:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=1049"},"modified":"2026-06-01T12:04:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T12:04:14","slug":"hiker-falls-200-feet-from-colorado-mountain-in-maroon-bells-snowmass-wilderness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=1049","title":{"rendered":"Hiker falls 200 feet from Colorado mountain in Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><strong>Getting your Trinity Audio player ready&#8230;<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A hiker was rescued Saturday afternoon from the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness after falling hundreds of feet from a mountain trail, according to search and rescue officials.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=1047\">A United Airlines flight to Spain turns back to Newark after a possible security threat midair<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Pitkin County Regional Emergency Dispatch Center in western Colorado was first alerted to the injured hiker at 2:17 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from Mountain Rescue Aspen.<\/p>\n<p>Search and rescue officials said the hiker, who has not been publicly identified, fell roughly 200 feet from Buckskin Pass.<\/p>\n<p>That pass is a popular out-and-back hiking route spanning 9.3 miles with nearly 3,000 feet of elevation gain and is rated \u201chard\u201d on a scale of easy to strenuous, according to AllTrails. The trail can be extended to include Snowmass Lake, which increases the total distance to 17.5 miles and the total elevation gain to 5,049 feet, according to AllTrails.<\/p>\n<p>Recent reviews left by hikers on the website said that slippery, unpacked snow in higher elevations makes the trail unsafe for inexperienced hikers.<\/p>\n<p>Mountain Rescue Aspen crews found the fallen hiker roughly 3.5 miles into the trail just after 3:45 p.m., according to the agency\u2019s news release.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradospringsmoverss.com\/?p=1045\">Boulder County extends direct cash assistance program<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMountain Rescue Aspen conducted a medical assessment, stabilized injuries, and began helping the hiker back down to the trailhead,\u201d officials stated in the release.<\/p>\n<p>Once at the bottom of the trail, crews handed the hiker over to paramedics, who took the hiker to the hospital, according to Mountain Rescue Aspen.
