Cyclist killed in crash on U.S. 85 in north metro Denver

A cyclist was struck and killed while crossing U.S. 85 in north metro Denver late Tuesday night, Brighton police said.

The crash happened at 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of East 120th Avenue and U.S. 85 when the cyclist was crossing the highway against a red light, the Brighton Police Department said in a news release.

A driver traveling northbound hit the cyclist, who was taken to Platte Valley Hospital and pronounced dead.

The driver stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, Brighton police said.

The cyclist will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
