1 killed, 4 injured in Adams County crash near Brighton

One person died and four others were injured in a Sunday afternoon crash near Brighton, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

State patrol troopers responded to the two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Powhaton Road and East 120th Avenue in Adams County at 2:49 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the agency.

Investigators believe two pickup trucks collided near the intersection, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation, state patrol officials said.

Paramedics took four people to nearby hospitals, and one person died at the scene of the crash, according to the release. It’s unknown which people were in which trucks.

The person killed will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

As of Sunday evening, East 120th Avenue was closed at Powhaton Road for the crash cleanup and investigation, state patrol officials said. No estimated time of reopening was available.
