Vice President JD Vance to speak at U.S. Air Force Academy commencement in Colorado

Vice President JD Vance will speak to hundreds of graduating cadets at this year’s U.S. Air Force Academy commencement ceremony in Colorado Springs, academy officials announced Tuesday.

More than 900 cadets will graduate on May 28 at Falcon Stadium, stepping into roles with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force, according to a news release from the academy. The event, which will be the Air Force Academy’s 68th commencement ceremony, will conclude with a flyover from the Air Force Thunderbirds.

Vance was sworn into office alongside President Donald Trump on Jan. 20, 2025. He previously served in the Marine Corps from 2003 to 2007 and as a U.S. senator for Ohio between 2023 and 2025.

Vance previously spoke at the U.S. Naval Academy commencement ceremony in May 2025.

Graduation tickets will be available to the public beginning May 20, and the ceremony will also be livestreamed at usafa.edu/graduation/ and on the academy’s YouTube channel.
