Colorado transportation officials are offering Uber credits to Coloradans this fall in an attempt to curb drunken driving during the beginning of football season, when the state typically sees a high number of impaired driving-related crashes.

Coloradans can claim a $10 Uber rideshare credit through Oct. 16, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a Friday news release. The credit, offered in partnership with AAA Colorado, can be claimed in the Uber app using code “RXKBSDBRDXK.”
The offer comes as law enforcement around the state ups its driving under the influence enforcement from Thursday to Oct. 21 with sobriety checkpoints and more officers patrolling roads.
Last year, 88 people were killed in DUI crashes during the same period, according to CDOT. Law enforcement made 1,427 DUI arrests in October.
So far this year, law enforcement has made 9,322 arrests for DUI. Lake, Clear Creek and Montezuma counties had the highest rates of DUI arrests per 100,000 people, the state agency said.
“There is no reason to ever get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming,” Colorado State Patrol Chief Col. Matthew C. Packard said in a statement. “Even if you’ve only had one drink, make the smart decision and arrange a sober ride home.”
