A 38-year-old man was arrested in a Thornton hit-and-run that killed a motorcyclist last week, police announced Wednesday.

Investigators believe Genaro Rubio Barron turned in front of a motorcyclist at Thornton Parkway and Huron Street shortly before 8 p.m. Friday, causing the motorcycle to collide with his pickup truck. The motorcyclist died three days later at the hospital, according to a news release from the Thornton Police Department.
The motorcyclist will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office at a later date.
Rubio Barron turned himself in on Saturday, police said. He was charged Wednesday with leaving the scene of an accident involving death and careless driving resulting in death, court records show.

Police responded to another hit-and-run crash at Thornton Parkway and Huron Street in February, where a 14-year-old riding a small motorized bike died after being hit from behind. Family identified the victim as Jayden Marrujo of Westminster, a Northglenn High School student.
