Interstate 70 will have multiday closures in west metro Denver this weekend and next for bridge repairs that will require detours for drivers, the Colorado Department of Transportation says.

The first closure will affect westbound I-70 on the bridge over Kipling Street in Wheat Ridge, starting at 7 p.m. Friday and lasting through 6 a.m. Tuesday. The second closure will affect eastbound I-70 at Kiping from 7 p.m. Sept. 25 through 6 a.m. Sept. 29, CDOT said in a news release.
Motorists will not be able to enter or exit I-70 at Kipling during the closures. Kipling will be closed in both directions at I-70 so that detoured I-70 traffic can be routed through the interchange using on- and off-ramps.
Both closures are expected to last for up to 83 hours. CDOT said to expect traffic delays of 30 minutes or more, and drivers are urged to plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible.

For drivers trying to access I-70, West 44th Avenue to Ward Road will serve as a detour during the westbound closure, while West 44th to Wadsworth Boulevard will serve as a detour during the eastbound closure. Bicyclists and pedestrians will be rerouted through the area using Garrison Street.
