Sundance Institute has named Jovita Schiffer as its director of Colorado community outreach and government relations ahead of the film festival’s Boulder debut in January.

Schiffer joins Sundance from Boulder Valley School District, where she has served as program director of the 21st Century Learning Centers since 2012, supporting underserved children and families through grants and community partnerships.
Schiffer, a Superior resident, will oversee community programs for Sundance and manage the nonprofit’s relationships with local organizations and state and local officials, according to a news release.

“As we deepen our roots in Colorado, Jovita will be critical to building and sustaining our connection to the Boulder and wider Colorado community,” Trista Schroeder, Sundance Institute’s general counsel and chief operating officer, said in the release.
Since 2025, Schiffer has written “Dear Boulder,” a weekly column in the Daily Camera about belonging and community.

The festival’s first Boulder edition is scheduled for Jan. 21-31, 2027.
