One person was found dead Tuesday after multiple structures caught fire in the Commerce City area, Adams County officials said.
Several animals, including horses, were also killed in the blaze at East 88th Avenue and Laurel Drive, according to a South Adams County Fire social media post. That’s just south of the Mile High Flea Market.
Multiple outdoor structures and nearby recreational vehicles were burned, the agency said. Black smoke could be seen billowing from a structure engulfed in flames in a video the agency posted.
Firefighters from multiple agencies worked to contain and prevent the fire, which was first reported about 1:40 p.m., from spreading any further, the agency said in an evening update.

South Adams County Fire and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
Identifying information about the person who died was not yet available.
Eastbound 88th Avenue, which was closed at Brighton Road, had reopened as of 6:43 p.m., according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
