A multi-vehicle crash that closed northbound Interstate 25 in south metro Denver on Friday afternoon is expected to cause “heavy traffic delays,” emergency officials said.

South Metro Fire Rescue crews were called to the crash between Happy Canyon Road and Castle Pines Parkway in Douglas County at 1:20 p.m., agency officials posted on social media.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes,” South Metro officials said.

Northbound I-25 is closed between exit 182 for Wilcox Street in Castle Rock and exit 188 for Castle Pines Parkway, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Road cameras show traffic backed up for at least six miles through the closure.
