Crash closes southbound lanes of U.S. 85 in Brighton, could stay closed for hours

A crash has closed the southbound lanes of U.S. 85 at 136th Avenue in the Brighton area.

Brighton Police Chief Matt Domenico said injuries have been reported. He said the department will release more details later.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Domenico expected the southbound lanes to remain closed for several hours.

Police advised drivers to take Sable Boulevard, Brighton Road or Interstate 76 as alternative routes.
