Downed powerlines delay traffic in south Denver metro

Power lines collapsed across University Boulevard in Greenwood Village on Wednesday, delaying traffic, according to law enforcement.

South Metro Fire Rescue first posted about the electrical emergency at 2:14 p.m. Wednesday. Crews from the fire department and the Greenwood Village Police Department both responded to the incident, South Metro officials said.

The power lines were blocking traffic on South University Boulevard between East Belleview Avenue and East Orchard Road, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

Drivers should avoid the area and take alternate routes where possible, agency officials said.

It’s unclear what downed the lines and when the issue is expected to be resolved.
