The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office released additional suspect information, including a sketch, of a man who reportedly attacked and robbed a 73-year-old hiker in Boulder Canyon in June.
The suspect is described as an approximately 24-year-old man with a “lean-muscular build,” and soft, “boyish” facial features, according to a Sheriff’s Office release updated Tuesday. He is also described as having thick, medium-length blonde hair worn in a fade style with shorter hair on the sides and blonde stubble facial hair. The suspect spoke in a “distinct unknown accent,” according to the release.
He was last seen wearing a yellow or ivory colored polo shirt, dark tan pants, and light-colored tennis shoes, according to the update.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to seek witnesses who were in the area around 9 p.m. June 29. The office is asking anyone with information that could help identify the suspect to contact detectives at [email protected] or 303‑441‑3674.
The suspect reportedly accused the 73-year-old of stealing his girlfriend’s marijuana joint, then attacked the man as he was walking back to his vehicle, which was parked just west of Boulder Canyon and Canon Park drives. Earlier, the hiker had asked the woman for a drag of the joint, which she had allowed, before he returned the joint and continued his hike.
A passerby found the man unresponsive and called 911. The man was taken to a hospital with serious, blunt-force trauma injuries. He was also missing his wallet, including his bank cards, driver’s license, and cash.
