It’s going to be a hot two days in Denver, with temperatures expected to reach the triple digits on both Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures in Denver are expected to hit 102 degrees on Sunday, just short of the city’s 103-degree heat record for Aug. 2, set in 2008, according to the weather service.
Triple-digit temperatures are forecast for the city again on Monday, with an afternoon high of 100 degrees expected, according to the weather service. That would tie the city’s current Aug. 3 heat record, which was set in 1878.
The Denver area will be under a heat advisory between noon Sunday and 9 p.m. Monday.
Temperatures between 98 and 104 degrees are expected across Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties on Sunday, the advisory stated. Temperatures between 96 and 101 degrees are expected in the same forecast area on Monday.
“Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses,” forecasters wrote in the advisory. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.”
Triple-digit temperatures are also forecast on Colorado’s Eastern Plains, though a heat advisory had not been issued Sunday morning, according to the weather service.
