One lane of northbound I-25 reopens in Castle Rock after vehicle fire

Emergency crews have reopened one lane of northbound Interstate 25 in Castle Rock following a vehicle fire.

South Metro Fire Rescue posted on social media at about 5:45 a.m. that the highway was closed at Founders Parkway because they were putting out a fire in a commercial vehicle just south of Happy Canyon Road.

At 6:20 a.m., they posted that the fire was out and firefighters were working to stabilize the vehicle’s trailer on the side of the highway so that they could safely reopen lanes. By 7:30 a.m., one was open northbound, though they still advised drivers to consider alternate routes because of likely delays.

Public information officer Brian Willie said no one was injured. Firefighters aren’t sure what the vehicle was carrying or why it ignited, he said.
