Southern Eagle County residents ordered to evacuate because of fire

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office ordered anyone between Crooked Creek Pass and the county line to evacuate because of the Thomasville Fire.

Eagle County Emergency Management said someone reported a wildfire northeast of Ruedi Reservoir, near the line with Pitkin County, at about 1:27 p.m. Tuesday.

As of about 4:30 p.m., the fire was roughly 15 acres and threatened one structure. At that point, first responders couldn’t fight the fire because of high winds and challenging terrain, according to the county website.

Initially, first responders evacuated the area between Brush Creek Road and Frying Pan Road. The order expanding the evacuation zone came at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
