Arapahoe Basin Ski Area just isn’t ready to say goodbye.

Days after confirming the ski resort would close for the season this weekend, A-Basin officials said Saturday the ski area would stay open for one more weekend from Friday, May 15, to Sunday, May 17.

The Summit County ski area was blanketed with more than a foot of snow after a late-season storm pummeled the Front Range on Tuesday and Wednesday, resort officials said.

Arapahoe Basin is the last Colorado ski area still open after a winter marked by dismal snowfall.

“Recent storms and our high elevation in conjunction with our team’s hard work all season long are keeping us running for yet another weekend,” resort officials said on social media. “This is what The Basin does; we read our mountain and its needs, and we adjust our operation accordingly.”

The resort will be closed from Monday through Thursday before reopening at 9 a.m. Friday. Closing weekend lift tickets are available for $39, and season and Ikon passes still apply.

No beginner terrain is currently open, the ski area said.
