Eastbound I-76 reopens after 6-vehicle crash that injured 2 near Commerce City

Two people were injured Monday morning in a crash involving several cars and a semitrailer that shut down eastbound Interstate 76 near Commerce City, according to law enforcement.

Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to the crash just after 4:20 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the agency.

As of 7:30 a.m., eastbound I-76 had reopened between 88th and 96th avenues, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

At least five cars and a semitrailer were involved in the crash, state patrol officials said. Paramedics took two people to hospitals with unknown injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it’s unknown when the road will reopen.
